Beader by the Lake

Ruth Winters, creator of Beader By the Lake, has been making beaded jewelry for more than twelve years. What began as a slow and curious exploration—fueled by a single beading magazine—quickly grew into a beloved craft, especially after her retirement allowed her the time and freedom to create more fully. She first learned by taking apart clearance costume jewelry for beads and findings, turning small discoveries into meaningful pieces of art.
Ruth finds her deepest inspiration in the beads themselves. Drawn to their variety, history, and beauty, she works with materials from all over the world—ceramic, glass, vintage and antique beads, and richly colored semiprecious gemstones. Color is her joyful playground, and she delights in combining shades, textures, and finishes to create jewelry that reflects both harmony and individuality.
A resident of a peaceful lake community in Harrison County, West Virginia, Ruth named her business Beader By the Lake in honor of the place that brings her calm, reflection, and creative energy. Her work celebrates the quiet art of beading and the simple pleasure of bringing together beautiful materials to form something new.
