I am a native West Virginian, born in Elkins in Randolph County. We’re next to the Monongahela National Forest in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains.
My paintings reflect my life growing up in West Virginia and the beauty of Appalachia. My works are mainly representational, where I try to reflect my appreciation of the profound beauty of Nature. I enjoy paintings of dramatic skies, majestic waterfalls, or peaceful country scenes that express a vision of nature, spirit and light as seen through the lens of my life experiences. There is a simple beauty that exists in all things; we only need to learn to see it.
I have been a longtime admirer of the Hudson River School painters and their humble appreciation of the Divine element in nature, along with the Luminists with their dramatic scenes of light. I am a Tamarack juried artist, and a member of the Oil Painters of America, the American Impressionist Society, Suwanee Arts Center (Suwanee Ga), Blue Ridge Mountain Arts Association and the Southern Appalachia Artist Guild ( Blue Ridge Ga), Seneca Trail Artists Guild ( Elkins WV), Artists At Work Gallery (Elkins WV) Artistry on Main Gallery (Buckhannon WV) and the Randolph County Community Arts Center.
